You may have noticed that our Beyond EAP monthly newsletter updates are signed ‘Sandie and the Janes’.
While you can easily find out more about the team on our website’s About page, we felt it was high time we introduced our followers to each member a little more personally – starting with Jane Mitchell: otherwise known as one of the ‘Janes’!
Jane Mitchell is an accredited psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, EMDR trauma therapist and certified women’s coach, with over 20 years of practical experience in a wide range of therapy settings.
Jane’s work with Beyond EAP involves helping employees face the severest of challenges, tailoring her approach to the specific needs of each and every one. Her specialist coaching for women focuses on confidence-building, leadership, and addressing burnout.
Here’s our Q&A with Jane herself.
1. When did you know that coaching was the way forward for you?
In my therapeutic work, I have always valued learning about and using different therapies and approaches for the benefit of my clients. After all, no two people are the same.
I’d heard a lot about the One of Many® Coaching Programme that really piqued my interest, so I signed up and completed the training to become a certified coach. It’s all about helping women develop successful careers and make an impact, facing down challenges in a healthy way… and of course, enjoying life!
I discovered that I really love this way of working. So, I feel fortunate that being part of the Beyond EAP team means I get to divide my time between therapy and coaching.
2. What do you most enjoy about coaching?
There is so much that appeals to me about coaching. But in particular, I really enjoy working with clients in setting and achieving goals. The focussed nature of the work has an immediacy and a momentum that is both interesting and rewarding for me.
3. Can you tell us something about yourself that we wouldn’t know?
I recently decided to learn to ice-skate, which is something I’ve always wanted to do. While it was quite a challenge (and a little scary at times!), I feel a real sense of achievement after completing the course. Hopefully, I’ll be putting my new-found skills into practice soon.
4. What’s been your experience of working with Beyond EAP?
I am delighted to be working with Sandie under the Beyond EAP umbrella. It’s a great set-up, with genuine focus on providing the specific support each client needs.
I especially value the ability to respond in a timely way, which can be so important for people who need immediate help. The model Beyond EAP offers is really sound, which makes for a rewarding and secure work environment.
5. What's next: where do you see yourself in five years’ time?
The last five years has seen so much change for so many of us, that when I think about the next five years it’s with the knowledge that just about anything could happen!
That said, I would like to gradually shift the current balance of coaching and therapy to increase and diversify my coaching practice – which I hope will include a continuing association with Sandie and Beyond EAP.
